We've had a very busy winter. The trip to Cuba was a wonderful
experience being there and sharing in the International Cuban
Book Fair in Havana. As delegates of the Canada Cuba Literary
Alliance we had the honor to open the book fair with our members
readings.
We also were invited to read at the United National Writers and
Artist of Cuba in Havana. What a joy to meet new and familiar
faces, but most of all to hear poets reading in English and
translated in Spanish, and vice versa.
The library in Havana's hospitality was warm and friendly. It
was a lovely surprise to see young school children attend to
entertain us with their singing and also enjoying our members
reading to them. We could tell they had a good time by their
giggling!
However, all work and no play is not good. So, some time was
slated for the beach, exploring Old Havana and taste some great
Cuban cuisine. Valentines Day was made very special with a
guided tour with a horse & buggy ride through the old sections
of Havana.

Attention and focus is now turning towards the upcoming summer
events and the Stellar Literary Festival in September. More on
this in the next issue
Take care and have a great Spring!
