       Wrote it all down

The pages of my past,

records of love's lost

details of boring days

sent a letter to J

January 11th, 1984

For some, memories fade away

I keep journals to this day

Repository for my dreams

Receptacle for my pain

The day the love stopped

I don't know exactly

received letter signed off

without the word love

March 15th, 1984

Twenty years later

on rainy, boring days

I read the stories of fun

read the details of pain

Am I lucky

I wrote it all down?

      Drive by Grief

On a highway metal guardrail

not to far away

Tied haphazardly,

a frayed and ragged floral wreath

Someone's anonymous grief.

Who's life ended here

in a tragic accident

Cars continue to drive by

This tattered monument.

Someone can't forget,

a Parent or a friend

sees one day the unmarked space

Ties a new one on.
