Observations of Heart and Mind

Front Cover art work by Graham Ducker

J. Graham Ducker has an opinion on
just about everything...and he's not afraid
to share. If you like your poetry to hold a straight line from here to there, this is the collection for you.
Often ironic, occasionally irreverent and sometimes irritating, the Pragmatic Poet takes no prisoners. This is life celebrated
through the eyes of an opinionated grump with the heart of a child.

Simple and clear language take us from paternal feelings and social problems to the simple definition of love.  I always thought that any person can own these stories, because we all have a shade in our feelings.

Samplings of My Poetry’ 2006
by Stella Ducker
Reviewed by Bonnie Richardson

My Beloved Sunshine, you can hear the longing the author has for fun-filled days when her grandson was little and they played together.  Her 'little boy' now grown, pulls at her heart as she says goodbye to those carefree days .

In Grandma's Little Magic Box, she places hugs and kisses for her grandson to take with him for those times when he can't be with her.  My Father's Irreplaceable Love,  emphasizes the loss she feels for the wonderful man her father was, now gone from this earth, and the trust she has as she waits to be reunited with him in God's own time.  Blue, More Thank a Colour, is a rich study of phrases on what blue really means.  In Poetry Workshop, Stella discovers, for the first time, the joy and power of putting words together as she feels her blood quicken with exhilaration.  Keep on writing Stella !  Anyone reading this fine collection will feel the love and connectedness of family coming full circle through the generations.
