    Apples & Oranges

It’s an open call to salvation
Turn your back to one thing
Turn your face to another
But so many of us given an option
Do not have the resolve to make
Left helpless to the freedom of choice
One fruit shines as bright as its
Neighbor
Heavy sweet promise
Dangle on branches
Drop to rot
Our hand empty with indecision

White’s Beach

My memory of you
Like something through water
Blurred by salt and sunlight
Your smile flashing like fish
Diving in and out of seaweed
Whenever I think of you
I’m holding my breath
As if I would drown
In all that time past
Following sirens to desire
That I will never catch again
Laying in your arms
Your hair surrounds me
Lost to you as a sailor to an angry sea Darkness covers us
But not in death
I wade into stinging waves
Hearing mermaids sing
Promising yesterday will be here again
