Sacred river source dried up
Diverted trickle pointless compass origin
Mud cakes oven torture rack
Burnt sienna dreams charred tomorrows

Dewdrops turning overclouded darkness inside-out
Musty silver linings showering confetti
Twisted crepe streamers deflated balloons
Cupped palms gather lunar radiance

Vermillion sky hugging parched netherworld
Divine cosmic essence taming oceans
Singed tailfeather pigeons take flight
Yearning to mingle with God

Corrugated steel roof humdrum percussion
Carefree steady beat relentless cadence
Clogged gutters rusty drowning pools
Rainbow reflections glitter swept away
