Christina Ann AmiePoet Wheeling, WV

I am married and have a beautiful daughter. I am the middle of 6 children I have 4 brothers and an older sister. We are a pretty close knit family. I wrote Poems Of Patriotic Pride to pay tribute to all the veterans and those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. Also to pay tribute to my 2 brothers Joey & Jerry whom both are currently serving in the armed forces and to all service personnel. I just wanted to let them know how proud and thankful I am to all of them for the protection and freedom that they give us all everyday

Guided Light

As I watched the sun set across the western sky
There is this peace that came over me
As the moon started to rise
I realized that I had tears in my eyes

Not knowing what was going on
I looked deep into my heart
I thought about my family
And the time we had been apart

For no reason I went inside
Then picked up the phone
Dialing a familiar number
It came to me my mother wasn't home

For she had passed just recently
To join my father up above
And the streams of light that followed me
Was their love guiding me from above.

Cancer Survivor

A trip to the doctor’s
For a routine exam
And suddenly you find
Your normal life is a sham
Why me
Is the question most often asked
When the word cancer
Hits you like a blast
Probing and prodding is the next phase
As you walk around in a daze
The chemo and radiation isn’t a cure
But to beat this you need it for sure
The sickness and hair loss
You start to endure
And pray to God
That soon there is a cure.

More doctors’ visits come to pass
When you pray at each one
That this is the last
When all seems hopeless
And your faith starts to fade
You find that you’re in remission
And you pray that the good news stays
You’re a cancer survivor
A hero to us all
And you faced your hardest battle
And did not falter or fall
The courage and strength
The support and love
Gives all of us hope
And faith in the Lord above.
