Jim GreenwaldPoet,  New Paris, PA

Raised in New London, CT a place I still call home having lived by and on the sea for most
of my life.  I was in the US Navy for six years and am a graduate of Saint Francis University.  I am a two time survivor of cancer and despite all the whittling on my body I am still here.  It has altered my life and taken much that I enjoy away from me but has provided more time to place my thoughts and feelings on paper.  I disliked English in school and the lack of "free form" permitted and now I no longer follow form or rhyme (distaste rhyme).

illusion

Life is a cup filled with illusions

Where love and friendship exist within

Moments in time…and then it passes

There was magic when we talked

No illusion

There was magic when first we met

No illusion

One sided windows cause only pain

My tears lie at my feet gathering in a pool

Each tear speaking of my sadness

Unrelenting, undulating, maze of thoughts

Shrouded in my dreams of friendship…love

Unanswered from a heart that is an illusion

An empty cup that is no illusion

welcome to my unfinished mind

Enter here…no formalities.
Pull aside that flap that holds the
gusts of wayward dreams from
entering this…My Mind…
under reconstruction.

Stand and think…look all around…
all you find will be my unfulfilled
dreams.
No direction, rhyme or reason…
Just dreams tossed all around
without restraint.

Are you the dream hanger?

Here to place my unrestrained
dreams in order?

Here to hang them at last in
their proper place?

I want so much to find my way
through the hallway of my dreams
to my reality.

Each day I wake I cast my thoughts
about and realize I will never hang a
sign to welcome anyone into my
finished mind
.
