    Millionaires Summer

There were blue skies
With dandelion blown clouds
Beeping horns : changing of gears
As I walked by

Where roses nodded and smiled
In gardens of the Rich
Along the road to Terenure
As I walked by

Round the corner to Eagle House
Wooden bird perched aloft
Wings outstretched as if for flight
As I walked by

Another pub to make them richer
For Dermot and Fergus
Beyond their dreams of avarice
As I walked by.

Men with strongboxes where hearts should be
Trying to wash out soul stains
In super clean lavatories
As I walked by

I'll go no more to Eagle House
When golden summer's gone
And bitter sweet are memories
As I walked on.

    The Magician

He comes at night
When stars grow pale
The moon : a crescent
Magical and horned

What sorcery is this?
To cast a spell
On my closed eyes
So I dream of him

He smiles; such a smile
To charm little birds
Out of their trees
And foolish women

He takes my hand
Leads me to a dim wood
In sweet dalliance we lie
Upon a grassy bed

Dawn comes : I wake
Unrefreshed by sleep
The Magician and me
Another tryst to keep.
