                        Solo

The man in the moon had a halo.
He supplied his own spotlight
on an indigo stage. And the two below walked
through the maze of trees going nowhere.
He watched them share
quiet kisses when they thought
no one was looking.
He imagined what they said
to one another.  Talks about
dreams, love, life. He dreamed
they talked about him.
He turned for them and glowed
brighter when they looked.
He lived for them.
He smiled and wished
that one day, he could be like that:
animated, eloquent, liberated.
It's a lonely world onstage,
when the closest star
is lightyears away.
