 CUBAN CHICKENS

The typical street
was alive with
warm colours
and warmer faces.

The typical restaurant
invited hungry
weary tourists.

The typical service
delivered a menu
of limited choices.

Typically,
I ordered chicken
Again.

 There was a typical
built-in guarantee
with this selection.

The typical aroma
rising from the dish
evoked memories.

I’d seen this leg before!

It was served
during yesterday’s tour.

It appeared
at the floating diner.

Two of them
cuddled on the plate
at the hideaway café.

All four hotel
cafeterias
had chicken legs.

Breast meat seemed
non-existent.

My visualization
extrapolated for
an explanation.

 The typical roasted
boomerang
arrived.

Chickens can’t
or don’t
or won’t
fly.

Wings are unnecessary!

Conservative Cubans
have developed
a distinct breed
of chicken!

Cross genetics
had exchanged
wing genes
for leg genes!

Cuban chickens
must have
four-legs!

What an achievement!

This conclusion
satisfied
my curiosity.

I relished the leg.
