AN ANGEL’S LAUGH
Have you ever heard an
angel laugh?
It might not be what
you’d expect,
I heard one once, back in the day
A memory so cherished since that
I call it forth when feelings drop,
To lift my spirits I bring back Hope;
A sound so soft and so sublime,
So safely snuggled under cover
Of honesty and innocence, such
Mirth no smoke nor mirrors shows
Instead this chuckle best brings out
Its owner’s pure and natural self;
When she laughs I must
then smile
Such a voice so controls my heart
That like some kid on Christmas Eve
Impatience pokes me with promises
Of many more good things to come
My wit may yet bring back her joy;
But
angels can have a devilish side!
Laughter often wears many masks
(Our reflection of divine diversity…)
Giggles and snickers soon give way,
Tone and volume jump the fun as
Rowdy, raunchy roars bust forth;
Pirates couldn’t match
that noise,
Yet it draws its focus from within,
From those I get no end to pleasure,
I treasure their echo in my mind and
Hope to find, to hold close forever
My memories of
this angel’s laugh.
