              DIVINER

Source diminished to mere trickle
Hushed up gurgles imitating laughter
Thwarted energy silence stirring anima
Restive soul tickling innermost depths

Winding idly downstream from wherever
Meandering aimlessly flow off course
Waylaid river of no return
Twisted fate around next bend

Soil that once absorbed rainfall
To replenish wasteland stripped away
No taproots stemming against disgruntled
Stream of consciousness virgin spring

Watershed ridges drained of surfeit
Crinkly edges retching dry heaves
Insistent thirsty desire craving quencher
Glossy lips speaking in tongues

Makeshift forked divining rods downcast
Portending to regorge stillborn undercurrent
Snake oil peddling quintessential elixir
Medicated lozenge soothing parched throat

Frothy whirlpool saliva gushed undeterred
Barren earth standing its ground
Grimy sediment rock crystals exposed
Open jaw one-way journey engulfed

             GIZA PYRAMIDS

Sticks and stones piled up
Steely flint sparks dry kindling
Twigs neatly stacked lean-to supports
Billowy smoke ascending curlicue puffs

Quadrilateral mass steep masonry slope
Giant steps converge at apex
Corners facing four winds diverted
Shadows bisecting light-years away shafts

Osiris son of earth god
Geb spouse sky goddess Nut
Horus posthumously begotten regal offspring
Crook signifying divine underworld authority

Guarded by enigmatic foreboding Sphinx
Considered to be Horus’ aspect
Harmonious proportions almost smiling face
Re choking parched throat sunstroke

Greedy Ka ravenous thirst unquenched
Chapped lips tingly clogged nostrils
Shades of ochre burnt umber
Exhaling gritty lapis lazuli specks

So tightly cut impossible to
Pass a hair between them
Clay mortar thin as papyrus
Brightly embellished relief pious hieroglyphs

Nobles buried in rectangular mastabas
Embalmed mummy anima gauze bound
Eerie omens invective curses dispelled
Exquisite tombs tunnel vision skullduggery

Metaphysical maxims derived from nature
Sublime oracular truths deeply ingrained
Prosaic obsessions mystical otherworldly invocations
Transcending ring of fire horizons
