     Whispered Syllables

In contemplation
Walking woodland trails
I have no schedule
Allowing my feet
And mind their freedom

Above, clouds racing the wind
And touching the sky, join trees
In bright, airy discussions.
I wish I knew the language
Of trees and clouds and could speak,
In their whispered syllables,
Of dreams, life and secret things

A sudden shadow
Draws my attention.
Against cloud and sky
A peregrine soars
And with it, my heart
        Welcomed Memory

In the lanterns light
Lilies glow as though composed
Of moonbeams on snow.
A memory of winter
Welcomed on a July night
