Frosted Fence

The short sharp shock
of tasting frost
on a fence
pierces
the memory
of my childhood.

That pure fear of
losing my tongue
and not being
able to speak
a further
word.


Falling Apart at the Seams

My world is
falling apart,
it seems.

That fluffy stuffing
has burst the seams
of its complacent case.

I've lost my place
in time and space,
no longer wanted
in the scheme of things.

My own family
has shut the door
to home
in my face.
