Ryan graduated from Wayne State University with a BA in Politcal Science.  He's worked on the staff of Marick Press, a small poetry press in the Metro Detroit area.  Currently he works as a banker in the mortgage industry.  He has been published previously by Wayne State's newspaper, The South End,  and online literary journal Silent Actor
 

  You're That Important

now that I'm here
where are the birds fluttering and making noise?
the silence glistens and tears
money apart
from value
is nothing
without you
the skies crash
and my ideas tune backwards
without you I'm sinking
to the place screams are discouraged with screams
too violent for the thought




         Opportunity

old man squeaking past the chances
in his rubber soles
slinks over the kids
and smiles.
asking pleasant questions
where do the multiplying herds of people
and their secrecy
end, whispering over your paranoia
tattooed 40 years, the faces no longer matter
