BELOW SEE LEVEL
Night hangers-on longer than usual
Overstaying welcome stardust on hold
Shaken awake hurled thunderbolts rivet
Radioactive firmament overcast bloodshot winks
Muffled silver satin pillow murmurs
Untold smothered last gasps dream
Of air stifling hidden consciousness
Unshaven galaxies stale breath refreshed
Too early too late squint-eyed
Sun barely imagines morning stillborn
Fetal curl bent toward dawn
Pray already bowed spine genuflects
Roots seedling tree branch leaf
Seam along which cloven fist
Cracks brass knuckles loosening grasp
Return to Nature deep withdrawal
Smudged nimbus nowhere to hide
Reconciling odorless rainfall heaving upwards
Darkling puddle lonely turd afloat
Sunken wading pools drown surfeit
Late after-hours gradually shift earlier
Immortality scurrying to catch up
Unable to outrun sordid past
Future nailed down – not quite

DOWNPOUR
Gray clouds interwoven darker gray
Saggy underbellies venting anger ominous
Warnings departing in huffy puffs
Pickpockets turned outside-in confetti lint
Bent grass winnowed to slivers
Anticipating dewy droplets zigzag streakers
Last straw overstuffed scarecrow perch
Stripped naked saturating wet dreams
Unseen thunder releases pent-up fury
Wrought sobs hardened crystal tearjerker
Lifeline palms cradling slight heartbeat
Throbs revive fistful clench trust
Grounded ruff species flock together
Soaked quills shrugging off migration
Wingtips trembling piteously shaken dry
Fatigue lifted off excess sweat
Warped sunrays poke through haze
Ouija resigned to oblivion refill
Brimming over teacup craving emptiness
Soaked fortune tea-leaves kismet unread
Full moon overshadows luminous eclipse
Fish nibble lunar silhouette reflections
Glow-in-the-dark marble agates blink
Ten count chokehold wrestling pin
