The
Toronto Small Press Group organizes two small press fairs a
year, spring and fall.
It was held at Trinity St. Paul's
Centre, 427 Bloor St W, Toronto from 11am-5pm on Saturday, May
26th.
The organizers put a lot of time and effort to arrange this and it
was most appreciated by all in attendance. Their hard work
paid off and everyone had a
successful and wonderful time. Kudos well deserved to their
organizers!
The event was held in two rooms. The
main room was jammed pack with lots
of small presses being well represented from comics, short
stories, poetry, fiction, magazines, art, from childrens' books to
adults. One of the areas personally enjoyed was the handmade
books.
There was a lot of networking that took place with the presses
being not only
in Toronto, but also from various locations around the Toronto
area.
The second, the small room (where Graham Ducker
of J. Graham Publishing)
were more table displays, but the centre of the room had a sitting
area for
those wanting to hear the readers. This was the Chapel Room.
There were readings in the afternoon were by:

This
year also marks the return of the Instant Anthology.
Anyone wanting
to participate brought a one single-sided page of their best work,
short-short fiction, text-based art, a poem, to the fair. A
trio of editors made their selection during the afternoon and the
anthology is produced and distributed before the end of the fair.
If your work appears in the instant anthology you receive a free
copy. Copies will be available for sale to others.
Preparations will soon be underway for the Fall 2007 fair.
Look for us there!
Below are a few photos taken by Stella Ducker
at the Toronto Small Press
Fair to give you a visual of the event.
