Lies In The Dark

Only words placed side by side.
Once believed…never again.
I am…I do.
I really listened to you.
I no longer believe you.
It took so long for me to see.
I guess I did not want to believe.
You are what you are.
I know there is no changing you.
The truth is so simple.
I wonder why you find it so hard.
Or was it just me?
I look all around the room and see
all your words scattered about
the room.
Now that the lights are on it is easy
to see the lies you scattered in
the dark.

         Footprints In The Snow

Wouldn't it be nice
if we could start over
again…each step new

Past mistakes erased
in a flash like an eraser
taken wildly to a blackboard
leaving only dust behind

The feeling of walking among
the trees made barren by gray
cold winds

Snow falling from the black sky
of night…rendering the world
silent and beautiful

A world where each step is the
first step as we leave our imprint
one step at a time in the pureness
of the falling snow of life

And at sunrise…in the heat of life
the sun like an eraser on a blackboard
melts the past of our journey.
