Words To Live By


catch me unawares, ideas

dropped into a secret crack in my soul,

a key to a door I had not seen,

a room with new clothes and a view

of an unfamiliar continent;

a squiggle-shaped gift, a perfect fit

inside a puzzle I thought was complete.

They have been absorbed, these words

have sealed the breach they entered,

and I feel healed, whole,

as if I had once known,

owned them, cast them away,

and now they have come home.
