I gaze through glass with wonder
Thinking I was free

The Blue Beauty

Sometimes chubby cotton balls
run laughingly across the endless ocean.
They play tag with the sun.

Sometimes thin streaks of mist
 lie across the heavens.
They cover it up as a net.

Sometimes the sky
slides down a motley rainbow.
It always runs back for more.

Sometimes furious clouds
gather together in a mass for war.
They attack the oblivious azure.

Sometimes a gloomy grey blanket
tucks the sun to bed.
It holds light prisoner.

Sometimes a deadly blackness
swallows it all.
And then the blue beauty closes its eyes
and goes to sleep.
 

Third Place

I sit and watch

An old mating couple
I wonder how fares their love.

I lie and explore
The depths of the dark
And see a golden eye.

I am still as I regard
This fascinating pool
The pregnant women swim by.

I search and peer
And find no trace
Of those hidden African Kings.

I strain my eyes
And stare so hard
But no Tetra  comes in sight. 

I follow the movement
Of the waving leaves
And gaze at all who pass.

I back away
And see nothing
But an ordinary fish tank.
