Love is All Around Us
you dance in golden laughter,
an infectious sound that flits
on the wings of tissue paper
butterflies that soar through
the air in gossamer strands
of love, unseen by the eye
unaided; even the focus
that is aided is inherently
blind to it, but it is there
just beyond the whispers
of the babbling brook in
the magic of a young girl’s
heart, it is stirring in a pot
where the close-minded
cannot see it, but those
with open hearts and minds —
especially those that believe
in flights of fantasy and of
whimsy, the threads are as
evident as the spider webs
dotting the dewy grass a
silver spool that cannot
be cut even by the fates.

Faerie Girl
you are a striking beauty
like an elf or faerie, like
a greek goddess with a
mane of flowing gold
outshining apollo’s rays;
your eyes as green as
peridot gleaming jade
yellow in the light, an
inexplicable fashion
sense making you
appear as if you had
walked straight out
of a fantasy novel —
I wish I could kiss you,
but I am a girl and girls
just aren’t supposed to
do that sort of thing;
it’s most improper
even in this day of
age, and I know you
would never wish to
kiss me back, so I keep
these feelings locked
inside my heart, as I
know that it would be
a sin to act on them;
yet I wish that I could
be a man if only to
hold you in my arms
for the rest of my days;
my beautiful faerie girl. |
